Committees and Boards
St. Lucie Transportation Organization (TPO) Board
The TPO is governed by a TPO Board, which is composed of elected officials from the Cities and County and representatives from the St. Lucie County School Board and Community Transit.
Technical Advisory Committee (TAC)
The St. Lucie TPO has established a broad-based TAC for the purpose of advising and providing technical expertise as part of the St. Lucie TPO decision-making process for adopting and maintaining area-wide transportation plans, policies, and programs. The TAC represents all modes of transportation as well as various levels of government including county and city transportation and land use agencies and state agencies such as the Florida Department of Transportation (FDOT) District IV office and the Florida Department of Environmental Protection.
Citizen's Advisory Committee (CAC)
The St. Lucie TPO also has established a CAC designed to facilitate a broad range of citizen involvement in the transportation planning process. The purpose of the CAC is to seek citizen and community reaction to planning proposals, provide comment with respect to the concerns of various segments of the population, and recommend projects and funding allocations for consideration. The CAC plays a significant role in implementing public involvement activities in the planning process.
Local Coordinating Board for Transportation Disadvantaged (LCB)
The LCB is appointed by the TPO, pursuant to Chapter 427, F.S., and Rule 41-2, F.A.C. The purpose of this board is to implement the duties described in Rule 31-2 as part of the Transportation Disadvantaged (TD) service delivery program. The LCB is made up of representatives from various State and local agencies as well as citizen representatives. A member of the TPO is appointed annually to serve as the LCB chair.
Treasure Coast Transportation Council (TCTC)
In 2005, the Transportation Regional Incentive Program (TRIP) was created by Florida legislation for the purpose of providing funds to improve regionally significant transportation facilities, including transit facilities, in regional transportation areas. In 2006, the TCTC, consisting of two members each from the St. Lucie TPO and the Indian River and Martin Metropolitan Planning Organizations (MPOs), was created as a regional transportation area to pursue TRIP funds for the three-county region.
Since its creation, TRIP has assisted the Treasure Coast in implementing a number of regional mobility solutions. Examples of projects that have utilized TRIP funding include Crosstown Parkway Extension and King’s Highway intersection improvements in St. Lucie County, construction of the Green River Parkway in Martin County, and the widening of Oslo Road in Indian River County.
Regional Advisory Committee (RAC)
A RAC, consisting of representatives from the TACs, CACs, and LCBs of Martin and Indian River MPOs and the St. Lucie TPO, FDOT District Four, and the Treasure Coast Regional Planning Council (TCRPC) has been formed to provide ongoing support for the TCTC.
Bicycle/Pedestrian Advisory Committee (BPAC)
The St. Lucie TPO has established a BPAC to provide recommendations regarding the bicycle and pedestrian planning and programming activities for the St. Lucie TPO and to work with local and State government agencies to coordinate bicycle and pedestrian planning and programming activities.
